A few vaccinations and a preliminary itinerary..

So, I got my first vaccinations against hepatitis A and B, and also a new polio shot today. I don’t know why people keep saying that the hepatitis shot hurts a lot, when my right shoulder in which I got the polio shot is still sore, and I don’t feel a thing in my left shoulder where I got the hepatitis shot!

I’ve also made a preliminary itinerary for our trip, although it doesn’t cover every day of our trip, and I don’t have any dates set for the activities yet.. Anyhow, we’re going to visit at least Dongdaemun market, Namdaemun market, Lotte World (world’s 2nd largest indoor amusement park, falling second only to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi) and it’s shopping mall and department store, COEX mall (Asia’s largest underground shopping mall), Cheonggyecheon stream, and possibly Seoul Grand Park Zoo. We’re also going to see the Deoksugung Palace Royal Guard-Changing Ceremony, which should be a quite interesting event.

I’m also trying to sell my old camera (the Canon mentioned in the first post of this blog) in order to get a slightly better EOS 600D before our trip to get even better pictures during the dark hours of the evening, night and morning (I hear that shopping in the wee hours of the night is an interesting experience).

Nyt on sitte otettu eka rokote hepatiitti A:ta ja B:tä vastaan. Kaupan päälle laittoivat vielä jo vanhentuneen poliorokotteenkin. En tajua, miksi ihmiset kertovat, että hepatiittirokotteen ottaminen sattuisi, kun oikeaan olkapäähäni, johon sain poliorokotteen, jomottaa vieläkin, mutta vasempaan olkapäähäni, johon tuo hepatiittirokote tökättiin, ei satu ollenkaan!

Olen myös tehnyt alustavan matkasuunnitelman reissullemme, tosin se ei kata vielä kaikkia päiviä, eikä millekkään ”retkistämme” ole vielä asetettu tarkkaa päivämäärää. Kuitenkin, aiomme käydä vähintäänkin seuraavissa paikoissa: Dongdaemun market, Namdaemun market, Lotte World (maailman toiseksi suurin sisähuvipuisto, joka häviää koossa ainoastaan Ferrari World Abu Dhabille) ja sen ostoskeskus sekä tavaratalo, COEX mall (Aasian suurin maanalainen ostoskeskus), Cheonggyecheon virta, ja mahdollisesti myös Seoul Grand Park Zoo. Menemme myös katsomaan Deoksugung palatsin Royal Guard-Changing seremoniaa, jonka on luultavimmin aika mielenkiintoinen tapahtuma.

Yritän myös saada kamerani myytyä (se vanha Canon, joka mainitaan blogin ensimmäisessä postauksessa), jotta saisin ostettua hieman paremman EOS 600D:n ennen reissuamme, jotta saisin parempia kuvia illan, yön ja aamun pimeimpinä tunteina (shoppailureissu aamuyön pikkutunneille asti on kuulemma aika mielenkiintoinen kokemus).

Hello!

So, this blog is about my trip to South Korea with my girlfriend (or common-law wife, if you will, search it up in the dictionary if you don’t know what that means) from the 8th of June ’til the 16th of June. I’ll be writing in both finnish and english, but sometimes, if I feel too lazy, I’ll just write with either finnish or english depending on my mood. When writing with both languagues I’ll most likely always start with english followed by the finnish part. I’ll probably upload lots of pictures if I just can bother myself enough to keep my Canon EOS 350D with me all the time, but we’ll see.

I booked the flights and the hotel for us today, and believe me, it wasn’t too cheap! Although it could have something to do with the fact that we both wanted a direct flight from Finland to South Korea, which added an extra ~250e to the price compared to flights with 1-3 stop-overs. At least we get to spend more time at the destination when the flight from Helsinki to Incheon International Airport in Seoul lasts 8h 50min and the return trip to Helsinki only 9h 40min. We’re also going to be staying in The Plaza Hotel, located in downtown Seoul just across the road from the Seoul City Hall https://www.hoteltheplaza.com/eng/, and apparently the hotel is right above the COEX mall and subway station and that you can access both from inside the hotel. How convenient is that! I also bought suitcases for both of us today, take a wild guess about his and hers!

If you have any questions about our trip, I’ll be happy to answer them when I can. I’ll have my laptop with me there and we have free internet access, both wireless and cable, in our room!

Terve vaan teille, meikäläisen finglishiä taitamattomille, lukijoille!

Elikkäs, tämän blogin tarkoitus on kertoa minun ja avovaimoni matkasta Etelä-Koreaan 8.-16.6 välisenä aikana. Kirjoittelen tätä blogia sekä suomeksi että englanniksi, mutta joskus jos laiskottaa liikaa, saatan kirjoittaa pelkästään suomeksi tai englanniksi, riippuen ihan fiiliksestä. Molemmilla kielillä kirjoittaessani englanninkielinen versio tulee todennäköisimmin aina tulemaan ensin, jonka jälkeen tulee suomenkielinen versio. Jos jaksan pakottaa itseni raahaamaan tuota yllä mainittua kuvia räpsivää taikalaatikkoa mukanani, saattaa tähän blogiin myös ilmestyä kuvia(!).

Varasin meille tänään lennot sekä hotellin, ja kermaperse kun olen, se ei ollut mitään halpaa huvia! Lennot lennetään suoraan Suomesta Etelä-Koreaan ja takaisin, joka toi hintaan suunnilleen ~250e lisää verrattuna lentoihin, joissa oli 1-3 välilaskua mukana. Ehtiipähän olemaan kauemmin paikan päällä kun lennot kestävät 8h 50min Helsingistä Incheon International Airportille Souliin, ja 9h 40min takaisin Incheonista Helsinkiin. Majoitumme myös The Plaza hotellissa, aivan Soulin keskustassa, Soulin kaupunginhallia vastapäätä (linkki hotellin nettisivuille ylhäällä). Ilmeisesti sekä metro että COEX ostoskeskus ovat aivan hotellin alla, ja että niihin pääsee suoraan hotellista. Aika kätevää! Ostinpa tänään myös matkalaukut meille kummallekin, yrittäkääpä arvata kumpi on kumman!
